How the Computer Changed my Daily Routine

Even though I don’t like to admit it, I am a creature of habit.  I thrive on routine and it makes my life that much easier.  I guess I love the comfort of doing the same things every day, and instead of having to think up something new, those events just flow throughout my day and make my life easier.  But when we first bought a computer, there were big changes in my daily routine and those changes still affect my life today.

I bought my first computer in the fall of 1999, and it was a big investment for me.  But since I was just out of college and had started my career as a financial advisor, so I thought it was about time that I caught up to everyone else.  I also had the Internet hooked up for the first time in my house and it was quite the novelty and tool that would change my life.

You see, before I bought a computer, I had a simple routine.  I woke up, read the paper while eating breakfast and then went to school.  I spent most of my time reading the comics in the paper, and I depended on them to cheer me up in the morning.  I guess my life was pretty free of technology and a lot simpler than it is now.

Fast forward to my life after owning a computer and there are a lot of changes.  Instead of reading the paper, I get access to all the latest news stories online.  I no longer read comics, and instead I look forward to receiving funny emails including such things as funny dog names, videos and pictures.  I don’t really take my time reading any of these things because now, I am always in a rush.

So, even though getting a computer was a smart thing at the time, it has really changed how I live my life.  Sometimes, I look back at the life I did have, and I wish for those simpler times.  But honestly, I don’t know how I would live without a computer anymore – it is a very important part of my life.

True IT Security Professionals Need A Greater Level Of Training

True IT security professionals need a greater level of training. Considering that most of the world is now run from computers, being properly trained in this particular technology is of the utmost importance to anyone in the modern day job market. However getting the proper training and knowing what constitutes proper qualifications is something that some IT security professionals lack; that is why being correctly certified in IT security could open a whole new range of opportunities.

Every company, organization or individual wants to ensure that the programs they use or develop are secure and safe from any malice; by being properly qualified in secure coding you will be able to make sure that they are. Classes in program and coding security (such as the ones for the ECSP and CSSLP certifications) do not train you so that the systems you create are impenetrable; no-one’s system is 100% safe from attack, but they do teach you how to reduce the risk of an attack and ensure that the different elements of the system are properly secured in themselves so that any intrusion doesn’t spread.

Indeed, while many hope that their system and databases are never breached, it is very useful to be properly trained to deal with a security intrusion and how to react to it. The Certified Incident Handler certification will give you valuable incident response training and you will learn the legal aspect of defusing an attack and also how to allow the system (or, at least, parts of the system) to continue working in the event of an intrusion. Other such activities such as risk assessment and how properly diagnose and neutralize an attack are covered as well.

While no single system can be truly impregnable it is essential that you are properly trained in both preventing an intrusion and how to react if one does occur; both the certifications mentioned here will allow you to do just that.

Make Your Next Digital Presentation From Your Home Office

If you own a company you probably work out of your home office on a daily basis. It may be easier to stay home and burn the midnight oil on occasion, but being on hand during business hours will help you to make more contacts and oversee your staff. If you need to create a multimedia presentation to present to potential clients or investors, you may end up spending many more hours working at home in order to make a great impression. Rarely if ever are presenters required to physically make an appearance during these types of events if traveling poses an inconvenience. In other words, you can stay at home and deliver your multimedia presentation if you have comprehensive software to work with in your office. Leave enough time to conduct a test run in order to ensure that your video presentation functions correctly. It is also a good idea to get the opinions of your colleagues before you present your video presentation to your targeted audience.

While slide shows are the standard choice for most business professionals, running an interactive PDF will allow you to click your mouse and step away from your computer. If the presentation attendees are also at their computers, an interactive PDF is a great way to get them to stay focused. You can record a narration that will tell your audience the key points while they are free to explore and discover other parts of your presentation on their own. Even if you only have a limited amount of time to complete your video presentation, you will undoubtedly be able to impress your colleagues if you invest in an up to date multimedia creation program. Do as much research on multimedia software as you can before you invest you money and your next presentation will be a huge success.
