How the Computer Changed my Daily Routine
Even though I don’t like to admit it, I am a creature of habit. I thrive on routine and it makes my life that much easier. I guess I love the comfort of doing the same things every day, and instead of having to think up something new, those events just flow throughout my day and make my life easier. But when we first bought a computer, there were big changes in my daily routine and those changes still affect my life today.
I bought my first computer in the fall of 1999, and it was a big investment for me. But since I was just out of college and had started my career as a financial advisor, so I thought it was about time that I caught up to everyone else. I also had the Internet hooked up for the first time in my house and it was quite the novelty and tool that would change my life.
You see, before I bought a computer, I had a simple routine. I woke up, read the paper while eating breakfast and then went to school. I spent most of my time reading the comics in the paper, and I depended on them to cheer me up in the morning. I guess my life was pretty free of technology and a lot simpler than it is now.
Fast forward to my life after owning a computer and there are a lot of changes. Instead of reading the paper, I get access to all the latest news stories online. I no longer read comics, and instead I look forward to receiving funny emails including such things as funny dog names, videos and pictures. I don’t really take my time reading any of these things because now, I am always in a rush.
So, even though getting a computer was a smart thing at the time, it has really changed how I live my life. Sometimes, I look back at the life I did have, and I wish for those simpler times. But honestly, I don’t know how I would live without a computer anymore – it is a very important part of my life.
